Happy Tail!
BARCS often receives letters from people who have
adopted from our shelter. We love to hear
about BARCS alumni. If you have a "Happy Tail" to
share in our newsletter or online, please
send us a note along with a photo of your pet.
Below is a recent "Happy Tail" we received from
Robin and George Finch.

Antigua
and Barbados found a new home! |
Dear BARCS,
In the fall of 2006, my husband and I
decided to adopt another cat. We already had
a dog, an older cat, and a middle aged cat.
But we decided on a kitten. I had been in
touch with Ann Higgins and Jane Kelly [from
BARCS] and Ann said she had a litter we
could look at. So in December, 2006, we went
to BARCS and Ann took us into her office and
there were 5 of the most adorable kittens.
She took out the 2 females for us to hold
and, WOW, what a tough decision to pick one.
But finally I did, at which point my husband
said, "Let's take both of them!" I was
thrilled and have not regretted it for one
minute.
Being big fans of the Caribbean and going
there as often as we can, we named them
Barbados and Antigua. These girls are almost
2 now, a constant source of entertainment
and joy. You can tell they are sisters
because at the beginning of their time with
us, they were always together. Then, after a
while, when you would see one, the other was
not too far behind. Though they pretty much
go their own ways around the house, they
still sleep together and clean each other
and wrestle and play. They adjusted to the
other cats and the dog, and Antigua actually
follows the dog around and waits for her to
come upstairs or downstairs. It is so sweet!
All of our pets have been, are, and always
will be rescues. The work your shelter does
is wonderful and we hope you will always be
around to continue it!
