Volunteers & Staff Help BARCS
Get Through the
Snowmageddon!
The dedicated and caring volunteers and staff at
BARCS worked diligently throughout the recent
snowstorms to make sure the shelter dogs were
walked before and after the unprecedented storms.
Thanks to our volunteers, we were able to ensure
that someone was at the shelter every day to
care for the animals and to administer
medications. Several people made their way to
BARCS to help dig out the sidewalks, parking
lots, and dog walking areas so that the dogs
could be walked and the shelter could re-open to
the public.
Efforts on behalf of the animals began on
Friday, February 5th when nine volunteers
responded to our urgent appeal to come to the
shelter to make sure that all of the shelter
dogs were walked before the storm.

Chucky found his forever home! |
BARCS
Happy Tail!
BARCS often receives letters from people who have
adopted from our shelter. We love to hear
about BARCS alumni! If you have a "Happy Tail"
to share in our newsletter or online, please
send us a note along with a photo of your pet.
Below is a recent "Happy Tail" about
Chucky and his
new adoptive parents Megan and Tim Addicks:
Dear BARCS:
My husband and I found our dog, Chucky, when
we volunteered at BARCStoberfest 2009 -- it was love
at first sight! He was one of the adoptable pets,
and I knew he was the one when he literally "hugged"
me when we met him. A few short days later we
brought him into our home, where he met his feline
sister, Lola. It took some time but they are now
best buds. Chucky has so much personality and has
brought so much joy into our lives! It is difficult
to explain to someone without a dog the true
unconditional love that a dog can bring, especially
a rescue. We recently enrolled him in doggy training
classes and he is picking up on new tricks very
quickly. It breaks my heart to think of what Chucky
had to deal with before being brought to BARCS and
before he had a warm loving home to call his own.
Thank you BARCS for all you do for these animals!
