The Phoenix Reward
This has been a difficult and heartbreaking
tragedy. We can only hope that someone will
now come forward with more information for a
conviction. We need to show that this is not
acceptable behavior.
BARCS has a
reward set up called the
“Phoenix Reward” where we are collecting money for anyone who
can identify the young men responsible for
this cruel act of violence.
The Phoenix Reward
is now up to $26,000!
This reward will go to the individual(s)
that provide the police information leading
to the arrest and conviction of the
individual(s) responsible for this felony
crime.
BARCS has collected $12,500 from individual
donors. Additional commitments to the
reward have been made by the following
organizations: The
Snyder Foundation for Animals
- $1,000, The
Humane Society of the United States
- $2,500,
the
Baltimore Humane Society - $5,000,
and the
MDSPCA - $5,000.
Together, we can help bring these
perpetrators to justice.
To contribute to the reward, you may either
write a check to
BARCS and write in the memo
section "For Phoenix Reward," or you can
visit the
Franky Fund page on our
website and pay through Pay Pal.
PLEASE NOTE: There is a section on Pay Pal
where you can write your comments before
submitting your donation and this is where
you should type "Phoenix Reward" - in this
special field.
Baltimore Animal Control will be posting
updated flyers in the area where the
incident occurred. This money will be
rewarded to the person who comes forward
with information about this case that leads
to an arrest and conviction. If no leads are
found within 6 months, the money donated to
BARCS by individuals will roll over to the
BARCS Franky Fund to help other homeless injured animals.
Anyone with information about this incident
should contact the Baltimore City Police
Department. Please call 410-396-2477
and ask for the Officer in charge of the
investigation.
For any
questions, please
email us. Please send checks to:

Phoenix, A Beloved Dog
|
Posted in the June BARCS E-News Scoop on
June 2, 2009:
As
many of you may know, the beloved Pit Bull
originally brought to
BARCS and nicknamed Phoenix
passed away Sunday morning.
Unfortunately her kidneys could not handle
the healing process and began to shut down.
Due to kidney failure, and the long road
still ahead for recovery, the Veterinarians
that were caring for her decided it would be
best to euthanize her.
She touched the hearts of everyone who came
in contact with her and anyone who heard her
story. We would like to thank
everyone who came together to try to save
this amazing and courageous dog.
BARCS truly appreciates the
overwhelming support from the community and
especially from Dr. Bonner and her staff
from
Swan Harbor Animal
Hospital,
Mainline Rescue,
Metropolitan Veterinary Associates in
PA, and Baltimore Police Officer Syreeta
Teel for her heroic act.
